Chilling
Hey ho,
Arrived in Cape Town 2 days ago after a 19 hour bus ride from Joburg! What joy! I particularly liked the part when I looked out of the window to see someone walking away with my bag....!! Trying not to panic I ran down the stairs and looked through the hold to see both my bags still sitting there. Phew. Sort of. I forgot that they had PEP's (the shop wehre I bought it from) in SA as well as Mozambique. He had the same bag. I just had to hope that he'd not taken mine by accident, but it was nearly empty so probably not very enticing!
Yesterday I climbed up Lion's Head a small mountain next to Table Mountain. Great walk actually - nice combination of climbing and walking. At one point you could choose between the chains climb "risky" or the "recommended route". Naturally I went for the chains and it wasn't so bad, but I'm terrified of slipping. Figured I'd used my luck up going up so came the "proper" way down. Covered in cloud for most of the way up - just as I reached the top, there was a break and I could see though to Table Mountain on one side and the sea glinting in the sun on the other. Breathtaking. Nothing like climbing a mountain by yourself to make you feel good. and I felt GREAT!!
Today I went on a wine tasting tour of the three main wine producing regions in the area. Good fun, easy-going group and an interesting guide. Have learnt a little more about what wine I like and what I don't. Plus I had the most amazing goats cheese!! They had a goats cheese tasting at one winery. It ws totally divine ; )
The rest of the time I was lazing in Pretoria. Great weather meant it was time to read by the pool 1/2 the time and watch endless DVD's in the other half. They had a 5 year old kid staying there called Cameron. Not spent a lot of time with kids and definitly not like this. His parents aren't around at the moment and yes he does have people looking after him, but it's kinda like if Cameron is around you when it's time for him to go to bed, you tell him to go to bed. Apart from playing with him a lot in the pool, I also helped him with counting and spelling and drawing etc. It was good fun. After the first few days I didn't think I was ready for kids, but now I'm not so sure. Anyway, it's a moot point as I still have 4 years of travelling left and no partner and I'm not ready yet to settle down. But kids pull more than they used to.
Ok, the main reason for emailing is I'm going on a trip tomorrow for 20 days camping across Namibia and Botswana. Not sure if I'll have access to internet so might not email you for a few weeks. It's going to be WICKED! I'll fill you in on everything when it's over. THe trip ends in Vic Falls, Zimbabwe. Everyone raves about Zimbabwe, I'm quite curious to see it.
SO hope you're all good, well and happy.
Lots of love

P.S. If you haven't seen it already, you have got to go and watch Munich. Despite being one of the most depressing films I've ever seen, the realism is superb and gives great incite into the different thoughts going through the minds of Israelis and with the whole Israeli Arab Jew situation. The shot wounds are disgusting. If all hollywood films were this realistic, no-one would go to them anymore. It is an amazing film and has been nominated for 6 Oscars, of which it probably deserves all of them.
P.P.S Yes, Mum I have finally got my Yellow Fever Vaccination
